Rapidi connects to IBM DB2 through RapidiConnector, a small service on a Windows machine in your network that has IBM DB2 Connect installed. It reads and writes the tables of the databases you add, including DB2 on iSeries (AS400) and AIX systems. The documentation covers DB2 versions 5.0 to 9.5.

What does this connector actually do?
The short version: RapidiConnector uses IBM DB2 Connect to reach your DB2 database, reads its table layout, and moves rows in and out on the schedule you set.

What goes on your side?
DB2 lives inside your own network, so Rapidi reaches it through a small service you install once, next to IBM's own client software. Nothing is installed inside DB2 itself.

If the database sits on an iSeries (AS400), you add the iSeries as a new system in the Client Configuration Assistant first, then pick the database from it. The connection name you give it there is what goes in the Server Connect field in MyRapidi.

Can Rapidi connect to IBM DB2?
Yes. IBM DB2 has its own connection type in MyRapidi. You point it at the database connection you set up in IBM DB2 Connect, test it, read the design, and configure the transfers on screen rather than in code.
Does it work with DB2 on iSeries (AS400)?
Yes. The DB2 connection covers DB2 databases on iSeries and AIX systems. For an iSeries you add the system in the DB2 Client Configuration Assistant first, then select the database on it.
Which DB2 versions are supported?
The Rapidi documentation names IBM DB2 9.5, 8.2, 8.1, 8.0 and 7.0, DB2 6.0 with at least Fix Pack 3, and DB2 5.0 (5.2) with at least Fix Pack 11. If you run a newer release, tell us which one and we will confirm it.
Can Rapidi write into DB2, or only read from it?
Both. The DB2 connection transfers data to and from the database, so a DB2 table can be the source of a transfer or its target.
What has to be installed on our side?
RapidiConnector and IBM DB2 Connect for Windows, on the same machine. RapidiConnector opens a connection out to the Rapidi service and keeps it open, so the database does not have to accept connections from the internet.
Can we limit Rapidi to one schema?
Yes. The connection has an optional Schema field. Fill it in and Rapidi works with that schema only.
What does the IBM DB2 connector cost?
Nothing on its own. Rapidi is priced per subscription plan rather than per connector, so adding IBM DB2 does not change the licence.
