Life Sciences Data Integration

Life sciences suppliers often sell direct to labs and drug developers, and hold a lot of customer data doing it. Rapidi keeps the ERP and the CRM holding the same accounts, orders and payments, so reports stop being put together by hand.

Why life sciences companies struggle with integration

The same problems come up when a life sciences supplier runs sales in a CRM and the money in an ERP.

  • Financial reports are combined by hand from the ERP, the CRM and several other sources.
  • Sales cannot see how an account is performing, or whether invoices are outstanding, without asking finance.
  • Operations in several regions each need their own reports, and each takes time to build.
  • An earlier integration turned out too complicated to manage, and every fix came with a new cost.
  • Selling direct means holding a lot of customer data, so security and uptime are not optional.

Each one eats time, and together they keep the people who sell away from the numbers they need.

Why life sciences companies choose Rapidi

  • Decades on these systems. Rapidi has connected Microsoft Dynamics and Salesforce since long before either was in the cloud, including older versions still in use.
  • No code. Transfers are configured on screen, so an integration does not become a development project.
  • On-premise reachable. An ERP inside your own network is connected without opening inbound ports.
  • Encrypted in transit. Traffic between your network and the platform is encrypted with TLS 1.2 or 1.3.
  • Older ERP versions included. Dynamics NAV back to the early Navision releases connects, not only the current products.
  • Transparent cost. Published pricing, so the budget does not depend on a scoping exercise.
  • Support from people who know both systems. An in-house team, not a ticket queue.

What you get out of it

Less manual work

Transfers run on their own, so nobody rebuilds a report from data that already exists in another system.

One version of the account

Accounts, orders, invoices and payments line up between the CRM and the ERP.

Payment status sales can see

Invoice history reaches the people talking to customers, without a request to finance.

Every entity in one place

Companies and databases report into the same picture instead of a spreadsheet each.

Lower build cost

Pre-built templates instead of a bespoke interface written and maintained for you.

Room to grow

Add a company or a system when the business changes, without starting again.

How Rapidi connects your life sciences systems

Ready-made templates on a secure cloud platform, joining the ERP that holds the money and the CRM that holds the relationship.

ERP and finance

Dynamics 365 Business Central, Finance and Operations, NAV, GP, C5 and Oracle NetSuite. Almost any other ERP, such as SAP or Syspro, connects through the generic interfaces.

CRM and sales

Salesforce, Dynamics 365 Sales and HubSpot, so the sales side sees orders, invoices and payment history.

Databases and reporting

Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, IBM DB2 and Google BigQuery, for the reporting layer you already use.

Three steps, no developer

  1. Connect. Choose the systems you want to integrate.
  2. Configure. Set up the transfers on screen, field by field.
  3. Sync. Data moves automatically, in real time or on the schedule you set.

What that looks like in practice

Expedeon supplies reagents and equipment to drug developers and molecular biology labs, selling direct to end users, with offices, labs and factories in the US, the UK, Australia, Spain and Singapore. An earlier NAV-to-Salesforce connector from another vendor had proved too complicated and too expensive to maintain. Rapidi now mirrors accounts and contacts between Dynamics NAV 2017 and Salesforce in both directions, with products, sales and payment history flowing from NAV and new opportunities flowing back.

In their own words

What customers say

“I used to spend all my time producing reports with data from multiple sources, including Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Salesforce, but now that we have integrated Salesforce with NAV 2017 using Rapidi, I’ve got 60% of my former day back.”

CRM Manager, Expedeon

“You might be tempted to develop such an integration solution in-house, but you will not save time or money. It actually saves costs and headaches in the long term to take advantage of the experts.”

Frequently asked questions

Which ERP systems can Rapidi connect for a life sciences company?

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Finance and Operations, Dynamics NAV, Dynamics GP, Dynamics C5 and Oracle NetSuite all have their own connector. Rapidi is flexible enough to integrate Salesforce with almost any other ERP, such as SAP or Syspro, through the REST, OData and ODBC interfaces.

How is our customer data protected on the way between systems?

The RapidiConnector sits inside your network and uses one outbound port, with no fixed IP addresses and no inbound ports to open. Traffic is encrypted with TLS 1.2 or 1.3.

Can data flow in both directions?

Yes. At Expedeon, accounts and contacts are mirrored between Dynamics NAV 2017 and Salesforce in both directions, while products, sales and payment history flow from NAV and new opportunities flow back.

How often does the data move?

In real time when a record changes, or on a schedule you set per object: daily, hourly, every 10 minutes, every minute or triggered, depending on the subscription plan. Orders can move as they are raised while payment history syncs overnight.

We run an older Dynamics NAV. Is that a problem?

No. Rapidi connects Dynamics NAV from the early Navision releases through NAV 2018, as well as Business Central. Older versions connect through C/Front, later ones through SQL and Web Services.
